Doin' Time in the 'Bus

I'm heading to Columbus to do my filial duty. Two weeks in the 'Bus is gonna be a challenge, though my mom and I are planning two trips out of town, one to D.C. to get our hair cut--which, if you know my mom, will not surprise you at all. Driving seven hours one way for a haircut is just a small price to pay for beauty. We'll turn it into a whole mother-daughter weekend, and hopefully both of us will survive to tell the tale.

The second trip is to help my great aunt--more like my grandmother--move into her senior community. I used to spend three weeks with her and my late uncle in the summers, and I still feel like visiting her is like hanging out with a girlfriend. She has a very busy social calendar, though, so you have to plan your visits carefully. Last time I was there we had several very posh meals at the Club (capital "c" as in The Club) with the Ladies, and the Ladies can put them back. When it comes to cocktail hour, I am a young grasshopper with much to learn. She has a boyfriend at the new digs, which I think is fantastic. Ninety is the new thirty.
