Fur Flies!

Needless to say, I feared the worst. Our pampered pups rarely have to ride in the car for more than two minutes, let alone fly in the cargo belly of an airplane. Fortunately, everyone at Logan--from the American Airlines counter folk to the TSA officers--were very professional and reassuring. Most important of all, they seemed like dog people. Jaya and Grover were a bit overwhelmed and stressed when they saw us again in San Diego, but they settled down in the car ride to my father-in-law's house.

Today they both relaxed. All Jaya needed to feel at home was a tennis ball, and fortunately this house is loaded with them. It has a barely-used tennis court with a whole slew of flat and weather-worn balls--just how he likes 'em. After only a few chases his whole demeanor changed and he was once again the same old cute ball fiend I know and love.

Grover, on the other hand, makes better use of the gorgeous pool. At first I had to carry her into the first step, but after that she realized she was actually allowed in this pool, and soon she was swimming at will. Jaya cannot seem to master how to use the stairs to get in and out of the pool, but at some point he'll figure it out and start swimming, too. I hope to have pictures of the two relaxing at "Spa Rancho Santa Fe" with us, but until I get my pictures off my camera, you'll have to make do with Google Earth's image of the house.

A morning run, a swim, lunch, Tagalog lessons, reading, dinner, hanging out, getting to sleep at a decent hour...this is a schedule I can get used to.
