Yippee! A New Camera!
Thanks to Barbara, my mother-in-law, I am now the proud owner of Panasonic DMC-TZ4. It's a powerful little consumer digital with a 10x optical zoom and a Leica lens. Many digital cameras confuse you with terms like "total zoom" or "digital zoom," but that's just the equivalent of taking a picture and enlarging it with a photocopier--the image is bigger, but you haven't gained any detail. This baby has true 28-280 mm optics (i.e. Leica glass) on it. Allow me to demonstrate:
